Jan Goderis was born in 1966, Ghent, Belgium. He graduated “Cum Laude” in Interior Design at the renowned Art and Architecture college Sint-Lucas in Ghent, Belgium.
During his professional career, he continues to extend the boundaries in designing, architecture, interior architecture, furniture, lighting and objects. His projects vary from private to public procurement and restorations of listed monuments.
During the developing process of projects, there are always many new ideas for furniture and object designs and, over the past 25 years, he has been keeping many sketch diaries with impressions for furniture designs.
The skills obtained during the various projects have been used in the past few years while materialising designs from the diaries.
The continuous learning and developing of skills are what drive Jan onwards in his career. Coupled with the 25 years of experience and creativity, there is an unlimited pursuit and challenge to design furniture, lighting and objects, which is now the main focus of his work.
The past few years he received several nominations and awards in design competitions such as: Interieur Kortrijk; LICC; Neue Wiener Werkstätte; Evolo; A'design award & competition; IDA Design Awards; ITSLIQUID awards; LIT Lighting Design Awards, SIT furniture design award; DSM awards, Prize Designs for Modern Furniture + Lighting Award.
